Back on March 24, 2020, in the early stages of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Disney announced the closure of it’s Hawaiian Resort, “Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa“.
At that time, Disney stated: “The safety and well-being of our Guests and employees remain The Walt Disney Company’s top priority. As a result of this unprecedented pandemic and in line with direction provided by health experts and government officials, Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, will remain closed until further notice.

In line with state guidance, in an abundance of caution and in the best interest of our guests and cast members, Aulani Resort will close beginning 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24-Tuesday, March 31. ”
Today, August 19, 2020, Disney sent out the following update to the closure of “Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa“:
UPDATE: Aug. 19, 2020 – Update on September Bookings at Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa
Aulani Resort remains closed and a reopening date has not been identified. We will continue to follow guidelines from government and health officials as we plan our reopening.
As a result, reservations at the resort throughout the month of September will be cancelled. We understand that some guests may have reservations booked at Aulani Resort during this time. We encourage you to contact these guests to determine a future date for their vacations. For stays occurring during the month of September, room reservations can be cancelled and Disney will waive Disney-imposed room reservation cancellation penalties.
Upon reopening, Aulani Resort rooms, restaurants and other locations may be limited in capacity and subject to restricted availability or closure based on direction from health experts and government officials to promote physical distancing. Furthermore, experiences, services and amenities may be modified, have limited availability or may remain closed. Offerings are not guaranteed. Aulani Resort reserves the right to cancel any reservations or purchases and provide applicable refunds.
