We totally loved the Haunted Mansion CD, and now we can’t wait to see more!

There are a lot of exciting things that are coming from Theme Parkology in 2018; more amazing DVDs with spectacular interviews, more mysterious Mystery Boxes, a new series of Untold Treasures, 2 documentaries based off Jim Korkis’ fantastic books, and of course more collectible trading cards (Does anyone trade the Theme Parkology Trading Cards?).
The one project that I am most looking forward to working on is the Audio CD series. I am a huge fan of listening to audio documentaries and stories while I travel. It’s a great way to pass the time and if it’s done right it can be very entertaining.
When I produced The Haunted Mansion Audio CD I wanted to create something that would be thrilling to listen too. The first draft that I did didn’t have any interviews within it.
I would drive around my town listening to the track. I love the Phantom’s narrative voice, the music was fantastic, as was the effects, but something was missing.
While I was editing another project, I came across an interview that I did with Disney Legend and Imagineer Rolly Crump. Rolly was talking about his work on the Museum of the weird and I was thinking this would be great within the audio CD. A moment of blankness hit my brain, I lowered my head in disbelief, and said out loud, “That’s what’s missing on the track.” Needless to say, I added an interview with Rolly Crump, Bob Gurr, and Jeff Baham. It made a huge difference.
Now, I’m getting ready to produce another audio CD, this time on the history of Adventures Thru Inner Space. This is a perfect sequel, or add-on, to the series as I have found that there are next to none video footage of this classic attraction. And it’s one of the most requested documentary from Theme Parkology fans for me to produce. So, it makes sense to turn into an audio disc.
Here is where we are with this project. The script is complete and was written by Vanessa Vass and will be narrated by Theme Parkology host, Professor Hugo Small, voiced by Actor/Visual Effect Artist C. Andrew Nelson.
I have just proofed the second draft and will be sending it over to Andrew to voice. While he is recording his vocals, I will be collecting some sci-fi sound effects, music, and will interview Bob Gurr and Alan Coats.
The editing process should begin in February/March.
So, what audio CD will I produce after that you ask? Well, I will be doing the history of Captain EO. This attraction really was a bit ahead of its time, but captured the era of music legend Michael Jackson perfectly. Slated for an interview for this project is Gary DePew (played the robot Major Domo) and Ola Ray (played Michael’s girlfriend in the Thriller video). This will be a fantastic project.
